Support the Watkins Family

The morning show host, Jon, from our sister station Mix 105.1 and his family received some devastating news over the weekend while they were in Philadelphia.

If you can spare, donate. If you can share, spread the word.

As many of you know, Liam is a bright, active, and determined 14-year-old who loves drums, sports, and spending time with family and friends. Just days ago, he was doing what he loves most—playing lacrosse in a tournament in Pennsylvania with his dad.
After competing on Saturday, Liam began experiencing labored breathing and a bloody nose. Concerned, his dad, Jon, took him to urgent care, where an X-ray revealed a mass in his chest.
What began as a routine visit quickly turned into every parent’s worst nightmare.
Liam was transported by ambulance to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where he was admitted to the ICU and placed under the care of an oncology team. A CT scan revealed a large mass wrapped around his esophagus and dangerously close to his heart. Following a biopsy, doctors confirmed the diagnosis: T-cell lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
In an instant, the Watkins family’s world was turned upside down. The good news is that Liam is already receiving treatment from one of the best pediatric cancer teams in the country. He has begun chemotherapy and will undergo several additional procedures while under anesthesia. For now, he is expected to remain hospitalized in Philadelphia for several weeks until the mass shrinks enough to relieve pressure on his esophagus and allow him to breathe comfortably while lying down.
Once he is able to return home (Utah), the fight will continue. Liam faces aggressive chemotherapy treatments over the next 6–8 months, followed ongoing chemo for up to two years. While the road ahead is long, Liam, Jon and Jenn are determined to meet this challenge head-on with courage, faith, and hope.
As you can imagine, the emotional and financial burden on the family is immense. In addition to mounting medical expenses, they are facing significant costs associated with being away from home for an extended period, including lost income, transportation, meals, and other unforeseen expenses. Their daughter (12) is also eager to spend time with her brother and parents during this difficult period, creating additional travel needs for the family.
The outpouring of love, prayers, and support has already meant so much to the Watkins family. However, their journey is just beginning. We are asking our community to rally around Liam and his family as they face the fight of their lives.
If you are able, please consider making a donation. No gift is too small, and every contribution will help ease the financial burden so the family can focus on what matters most—supporting Liam through treatment and recovery. If you cannot give, please consider sharing this page and keeping Liam and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Liam is strong. He is brave. And he will not face this battle alone! We will continue to share updates as they become available. Thank you for your love, prayers, generosity, and unwavering support.
