Former BYU Hoops standout Kyle Collinsworth sent out a tweet Thursday Night urging Daivien Williamson to come to Provo and join Mark Pope and the rest of the 2020 BYU Hoops team and other former Cougars were quick to echo his thoughts.

Williamson, a 6-foot-2 guard from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, entered the transfer portal this offseason after spending then last two seasons at East Tennessee State University. A part-time starter with the Bucs, Williamson averaged 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists during his time at ETSU.

The Cougars are among the favorites to land the talents of Williamson after the guard announced this week that BYU was among the top five schools that he would be considering. Pope and the Cougars will have to battle against Tulsa, Wake Forest, San Diego State and Georgetown if they hope to land the talented Williamson. While the Cougars have made a compelling pitch to Williamson, it may be difficult to beat out the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, who are located in Williamson’s hometown and are led by new Head Coach Steve Forbes, who coached Williamson the previous two seasons at ETSU.
Still, former Cougar hoops stars Kyle Collinsworth and Travis Hansen hope that their social media pitch may be enough to sway Williamson into coming to Provo.
