BYU added much-needed depth to the cornerback position with former Utah State DB Jakob Robinson announcing his commitment to the Cougars earlier today.
Robinson – a 5-10, 165 pound product from Orem, Utah – was a three-star player at Orem High before committing to the Aggies in January 2020. Robinson – who played snaps at both cornerback and safety for the Aggies – saw action in 4 of Utah State’s 6 games in a Covid-shortened season, tallying 8 total tackles – 6 solo – and 1 sack. He also earned academic all-Mountain West honors.

Robinson will technically be a freshman for the 2021 college football season thanks to an NCAA waiver that granted all athletes a “free” year in 2020.
It is expected that Robinson will be able to compete for a starting job immediately as the Cougars look to replace starting cornerback Chris Wilcox, who sat out BYU’s Bowl Game vs. UCF after declaring for the NFL Draft.
