Provo, Utah –

BYU women’s basketball rounded out non-conference play with an 81-46 blowout win over UTEP Saturday afternoon at the Marriott Center.

BYU was up big at halftime and never looked back. “We rebounded really well in that first quarter, in the first half and then our offense kind of followed suit in the second quarter and going forward,” head coach Lee Cummard said. “Overall, I loved the contribution from a lot of people. We got to see a lot of different lineups out there, and I am grateful that for the most part, through non-conference, we’re pretty, pretty healthy, all things considered. And just thought it was a pretty complete game relative to some of our more recent games.”

The Cougars stretched the margin to 28 points, sparked by a strong performance from true freshman Olivia Hamlin, who finished with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting. After opening the game 1 of 5 from the field, Hamlin settled in and closed the night 6 of 8.

Sophomore Kambree Barber continued her solid start to the season in her third appearance, posting 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

BYU’s defense set the tone, holding the Miners to under 35% shooting from the field and 25% from 3-point range.

Marya Hudgins, who entered the game averaging 13.2 points over her last five outings, added 11 points and five rebounds. The redshirt junior continued her recent stretch of consistent production.

The Marriott Center bench erupted when Mariam Traore scored the first points of her collegiate career, providing a highlight moment in an already lopsided contest.

BYU closes nonconference play in a position similar to last season under coach Amber Whiting, when the Cougars finished 10–2 before conference action. The difference this year has been the emergence of depth across a young roster, with multiple contributors stepping into meaningful roles.

Even with 11 nonconference wins, BYU will still need to reach the 10-win mark in Big 12 play to position itself for an at-large bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

The Cougars now turn their attention to conference play, opening Big 12 action on the road against UCF in Orlando, Florida. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. EST, with the game streaming live on ESPN+.
